Blue Air, the first smart flying airline with more than 50 routes throughout Europe, has decided to make an important change to its price policy regarding baggage transportation.
Customers booking flights starting May 21 2010 will pay only 10 Eur for each piece of checked-in luggage. For the flights serviced with Boeing 737 planes the limit is 4 bags of up to 32 kg each. For flights operated with SAAB 340, the maximum allowance for checked in luggage is 1 bag of up to 20 kilograms. In addition, the Blue Air customers are allowed to carry a hand luggage of up to 7 kilograms and a laptop without paying any additional fee.
Sherif Ussama, CEO of Blue Air, declares that the new policy comes as a natural response to the needs expressed by Blue Air passengers:
The decision regarding the universal price for baggage was made in order to keep up with our customers' needs. The new price will make booking a ticket more simple and even more affordable for Blue Air passengers"
The 10 Eur universal fee for a piece of luggage is available when buying the ticket. At the airport, the baggage fee will be 20 Eur.
The first smart flying airline, Blue Air started operating no frills flights in December 2004 and has since then transported more than 4,5 million passengers throughout Europe. Pioneer of the smart flying model, Blue Air introduced the idea of affordable quality to European aviation and quickly expanded its activity to 13 countries throughout Europe: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, France, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Romania.

A cloud of volcanic ashes affects European air traffic. For safety reasons, international authorities decided to close several airspaces in northern Europe. All air carriers were affected. Blue Air makes efforts to find solutions to reduce delays.
As a consequence of this situation, the Blue Air flight timetable changes as follows:
- Bucharest – Brussels – Bucharest flights were rerouted to Cologne, the passengers being transported from Brussels to Cologne and back by bus. Blue Air will incur all costs for the road transportation and operating on the Cologne airport.
- Bucharest – London – Bucharest flights meant to be operated Thursday, 15th of April and Friday, 16th of April were cancelled. The passengers thereof have two options: reimbursement or date change for another Blue Air flight for the same route.
Since the volcanic ashes cloud moves towards South-east, it is possible that other Blue Air flights suffer changes. Blue Air will notice any supplementary changes on the www.blueairweb.com site. Blue Air passengers, who purchased tickets for these days, are asked to access www.blueairweb.com to keep informed about the evolution of the situation.
