Blue Air flight held Monday, March 1, on the Bucharest – Brussels route wasn’t just any trip. The newest Blue Air family member, a Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft carried out on Monday its first flight, following to serve regularly in the next 3 years the smart flying operator’s flights. The aircraft was leased under operational leasing.
With a total of 186 seats, the new aircraft will increase with 14% the transportation capacity of the Blue Air Company. At the same time the new aircraft will bring new jobs (in the technical, operational and crew departments).
„In the last five years we have carried over 4.5 million passengers. Last generation Boeing aircrafts have greater capacity and are more efficient, being able to cover the continuously growing number of passengers. Also, aircrafts help reducing the costs and decrease noxious emissions. The new Boeing 737-800 NG will help us to continue the smart strategy in 2010 also.”, Says Adrian Ionaşcu, Blue Air general manager.
737-800 Next Generation is one of the most advanced models from Boeing. The aircraft can reach a cruising speed of 837 km/h and its flight autonomy is of 4.900 kilometers. The CFMI – CFM engine type and wings’ technology, winglets type, bring significant improvements in efficiency, reducing operating costs and pollution level. 737 aircraft family is the most popular choice of air transport for operators on the international market.
By the end of 2010, Blue Air fleet will expand by four aircrafts (two Boeing 737-800 NG and two SAAB 340). In 2008, Blue Air and Boeing have signed an agreement to acquire five Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircrafts. These will be delivered by 2013.
Blue Air Company’s operational fleet has thus reached 12 aircrafts: two SAAB 340 and 10 Boeing 737 aircrafts: three 737 – 300 series, two 737 – 400 series, one 737-500 series and four 737 – 800 Next Generation series, with capacities between 126 and 189 seats.
Blue Air is in a holding company which includes Direct Aero Services, air-taxi company. For now, the Direct Aero Services fleet includes two helicopters (Eurocopter: Colibri EC 120 and EC 135) two SAAB aircrafts, a Cessna 206 aircraft and a Jet Bimotor, Cessna Citation Mustang.
